Nature Cat encourages children to explore the outdoors
According to a new nationwide poll from The Nature Conservancy, only about 10 percent of children say they are spending time outdoors every day. The upcoming animated series, Nature Cat, was designed to help children ages 3-8 discover nature and inspire them to get outdoors and develop connections with the natural world.

A grant from the Arthur Vining Davis Foundations supported the completion of Nature Cat, co-produced by Spiffy Pictures and WTTW. The series stars a housecat named Fred who dreams of exploring the great outdoors. In each episode, once his family leaves for the day, Fred transforms into Nature Cat, “backyard explorer extraordinaire.
With the help of his animal friends, Nature Cat demonstrates that discovery can happen anywhere ---a backyard, a park, the beach and even in the middle of a city. As they join Nature Cat and his friends on adventures, young viewers will learn that to experience nature all they need to do is open the door, step outside and prime their senses.
