AVDF has partnered with the Teagle Foundation on a five-year, $6 million initiative to expand statewide transfer pathways for community college students seeking to complete their bachelor’s degrees at independent colleges. This effort addresses a longstanding challenge in higher education: the complex and inconsistent general education and major requirements at private institutions, which often misalign with community college curricula and hinder transfer success.
To date, implementation work has been completed in 11 states, with four additional states currently carrying out funded implementation plans. Two more states have received planning grants to explore future participation in the initiative.
Early data on the impact of this work is promising. A recent article in Inside Higher Ed highlights notable progress in the New England region, where collaborative efforts have led to stronger transfer pipelines and improved outcomes for students. Click here to read the full feature.
