AVDF accepts open submission funding requests in two of our five Program Areas: Private Higher Education, and Interfaith Leadership and Religious Literacy.
The Foundations use a two-stage process to review requests. Applicants must first submit a letter of intent through the Foundation’s portal by the deadline listed below. AVDF staff review all letters of intent and invite competitive requests forward to a second stage, in which applicants submit a full proposal. Full proposals that are recommended for approval are reviewed by the AVDF Board of Trustees in February and May. Please note that various factors determine when a full proposal will be reviewed by our Board. All applicants should therefore assume a project start date of June 1 or later of the year following submission of their request.

All materials must be received by 5:00 pm (ET) on the deadline date listed below in order to be eligible for review in our 2021-2022 cycle.
Full Proposal Invitations Issued
AVDF Program staff will invite applicants who submitted the most competitive letters of intent to submit a full proposal for further consideration.

AVDF Board Review Decisions
Proposal decisions are issued in February or May.
