Fly With Me, an AVDF-supported documentary, has been nominated for Outstanding Historical Documentary at the 46th Annual News and Documentary Emmy Awards.

Produced by GBH under American Experience, the film chronicles the groundbreaking history of the women who became flight attendants at a time when societal norms placed significant restrictions on women’s independence. In an era when single women could not easily obtain credit, dine out alone, or access birth control, becoming a “stewardess” offered rare opportunities for travel, autonomy, and adventure. While often dismissed as symbols of glamorized conformity, these women were, in fact, trailblazers who challenged gender norms and helped reshape the American workplace.

The winners of the 46th Annual News and Documentary Emmy Awards will be announced during a two-night ceremony at the Palladium Times Square in New York City. News category winners will be revealed on June 25, 2025, followed by documentary category winners on June 26. Several other American Experience documentaries were also nominated this year.
