Across college campuses today, polarization and social fragmentation have intensified, contributing to rising incidents of identity-based harassment, exclusion, and, at times, violence. Jewish students have been particularly impacted by this climate, experiencing heightened forms of exclusion and hostility that mirror, and often magnify, broader campus tensions. Students across identities are eager for an antidote: structured, values-driven spaces where they can move beyond binary thinking, engage across difference, and build authentic relationships grounded in trust and mutual understanding. Hillel is uniquely positioned to meet this moment. At its core, Hillel’s model centers on relationship-building and community formation rooted in a deep, practiced commitment to pluralism. Over the next two years, this initiative will build on proven successes by continuing a targeted microgrant program, delivering relevant professional development, and deepening student and staff capacity through conference-based training. Together, these activities will produce scalable tools, trained campus leaders, and replicable models for pluralistic engagement, reaching more than 70 (non-unique) campuses and strengthening their ability to foster resilient, inclusive campus communities.
