Grant Calendar - Key Dates
AVDF considers grant requests from eligible institutions in two phases - a letter of inquiry phase and a full proposal phase. In the first phase, institutions must submit a letter of inquiry to the Foundations' program staff for review. After review of the letter of inquiry, the Foundations' program staff may elect to invite the organization to submit a full proposal. Competitive proposals will be considered for funding by the Foundations' Board of Trustees in the following calendar year.
Please note: Review of letters of inquiry and grant proposals in Public Educational Media will be ongoing, regardless of the deadlines listed below.
Submission of an LOI: Ongoing
An interested organization may submit a letter of inquiry for consideration by the Foundations' staff anytime throughout the year. Note that the Foundations' program staff will not review the letters of inquiry, make comments on the letters of inquiry, or invite any full proposals until after the deadline for receipt of all letters of inquiry (August 30, 2019).
LOI Deadline: August 30, 2019
All materials must be received by 11:59pm (ET) to be eligible for review.
Proposal Invitations Issued: October 11, 2019
AVDF Program staff will invite competitive letters of inquiry to submit a full proposal for further consideration.
Proposal Deadline: November 8, 2019
Deadline for submission of grant proposals to be considered for funding in the following calendar year. All materials must be submitted by 11:59 pm (ET) to be eligible for review.
Grant Review Decisions: February, May, and October
Please understand that we may not communicate any decision regarding the status of a proposal for several months. Following a thorough and comprehensive review of every proposal, our program staff will select the most competitive proposals for presentation to our Board of Trustees. The Foundations' Board of Trustees makes all grant funding decisions during their three meetings held each year in February, May, and October. We will be in touch with an update about the status of all proposals as soon as possible, but understand that there may be a delay as we schedule the consideration of the competitive proposals across the three meetings each calendar year. Thank you for your patience.
