Belmont University will develop Living with Purpose Groups, an innovative approach to campus engagement that unites faculty, staff and students around a shared sense of purpose. Building upon prior AVDF-funded projects, these interdisciplinary communities of practice will be co-led by employees who share vocational interests and will partner with student organizations as Purpose Partners. Faculty and staff have expressed a desire to foster greater connections across campus. Students long for more meaningful interactions with faculty and staff. This program addresses this gap, providing an outlet for belonging and shared purpose. Groups will apply through a structured process that includes identifying a VP-level sponsor, student organization partners, a purpose statement, and a use plan for the $7,500 annual funding. Groups will use funds for campus events and projects having impact on their stated purpose. Outputs include the launch of up to ten groups, supported by training, resources, and structured evaluation. Outcomes are demonstrated as faculty/staff report stronger purpose alignment, connection, and belonging; students experience deeper engagement and community; and groups apply skills and resources that create broad campus and community impact.
