As pandemic-era learning loss lingers, while social media and other digital forms of entertainment increasingly play a larger role in the lives of children and families, the need for high-quality children’s educational media like Terrestrials could not be of greater urgency. Furthermore, as core scientific institutions and values of diversity, equity, and inclusion weather public and private sector divestment, science instruction that both cultivates the next generation of scientists and presents a more diverse idea of who belongs in science is a necessity. Terrestrials seeds a passion for science and a sense of belonging within the field among young listeners as an essential investment in future generations’ capacity to tackle the most critical challenges facing our world. The two-year grant will both power the production of six new seasons of the series and support strategic investments from partnership development to digital experimentation, live events, and more, maximizing Terrestrials’ reach, impact, and cultivation of an engaged audience community.
