In January of 2020 Oberlin College and Spring Arbor University hosted a January term course that provided students from ideologically diverse backgrounds the opportunity to dialogue across difference.  The seventeen student participants lived and worked together in settings that allowed them to explore each other’s values, political views, and faith perspectives. The program, funded by AVDF, is the subject of a short, powerful film produced by the Nantucket Project Academy. The film, Courageous Conversations, featuring NYU psychologist Jonathan Haidt, examines the topic of polarization on campus, and shows how programs of this sort can bridge what sometimes seem to be unbridgeable divides. The film can be seen here.
