The presidents or provosts from 25 higher education institutions in Ohio participated in a signing ceremony to commemorate a collaborative effort to provide students with accessible transfer pathways to baccalaureate programs.

The collaboration was made possible through The Ohio Consortium for Transfer Pathways to the Liberal Arts, an initiative jointly funded by AVDF and the Teagle Foundation. The Council of Independent Colleges (CIC) and the Ohio Foundation of Independent Colleges (OFIC) launched the consortium in 2021 to unite 14 colleges and universities and 11 community colleges to establish statewide transfer pathways in three liberal arts disciplines: English, biology, and psychology.

Consortium representatives including the participating colleges and universities joined the signing ceremony held at the Ohio Statehouse in Columbus on December 7, 2022. All partnering institutions pledged to help remove barriers to transfer pathways from community colleges to independent institutions.

The pledge marks each institution’s support of student achievement by helping to eliminate transfer obstacles such as affordability, access, and clarity. The consortium will provide clear and consistent transfer requirements across public and private institutions resulting in greater cooperation and mutual trust between the entities.
