Closer To Truth (CTT) proposes to produce and broadcast the definitive TV series and web videos on Eastern Traditions and the Big Questions, focusing on Buddhism, Hinduism, and Chinese philosophy (Confucianism and Daoism). The production is anchored by interviews of world-class experts, leading philosophers of Buddhism, Hinduism, and Confucianism and Daoism, with content compelling for broad audiences (US and globally).
The production is not an introduction to, or a survey of, various Eastern traditions; rather, CTT targets each tradition’s answers or responses to core CTT Big Questions, reframed for an Eastern perspective.
These Big Questions include: existence and nature of The Absolute or cosmic consciousness or God or multiple deities; essence of human mind or consciousness or some kind of soul or spirit, also covering death and immortality; issues of morality, prescriptive behavior, ritual, evil, and suffering; deep nature of reality, metaphysics (ontology), the physical cosmos; eschatology, future and world to come, ultimate purpose
While CTT focuses on Buddhism, Hinduism, and Confucianism and Daolsm, each in its own right, CTT makes occasional comparisons with Christian, Jewish and Islamic philosophy, thus expressing AVDF’s “Interfaith Leadership and Religious Literacy”.
