America’s 250th anniversary presents a once-in-a-generation opportunity to reflect on the lessons of our nation’s democratic experiment. In Pursuit, a national, nonpartisan civic initiative led by More Perfect and 11th Archivist of the US Dr. Colleen Shogan, has assembled former presidents, first ladies, a Supreme Court justice, journalists, and leading historians to distill history’s enduring leadership lessons into compelling essays. Building on early success reaching millions nationally, In Pursuit aims to reach audiences across all mediums. More Perfect will partner with award-winning documentary nonprofit, Retro Report, to produce a PBS broadcast special, a series of digital short films, and curriculum-aligned K-12 educational resources.

Releasing in the fall of 2026, this project will reach television and streaming audiences through a prime-time airing on PBS and its streaming platforms. It will reach millions of students, and tens of thousands of teachers through PBS LearningMedia and Retro Report’s education network. The digital videos will engage young Americans on social media platforms. The impact of this initiative includes fostering civic reflection, cross-partisan dialogue, and appreciation for our American democratic ideals at a pivotal national moment.
