Public media stands at an inflection point. The federal funding crisis has accelerated what broadcast trends already revealed: the industry must transform to remain relevant and sustainable. Americans still need what public media offers – trusted local information, authentic community voices, and meaningful connection – but the current model is misaligned with how people consume media and build habits today. Greater Public and the Station Resource Group (SRG) were awarded a grant to launch the CEO RUN Implementation Cohort, a six-month intensive program that will equip public media leaders with the framework, tools, and peer support needed to transform their stations from legacy broadcast institutions into modern, audience-centered organizations.
