The Religion & The Environment Forum will bring journalists and academics together to foster religious and environmental literacy and to create networks across the religion/environment divide. Climate change is now the fundamental human challenge. Other environmental challenges—deforestation, water scarcity, soil degradation, and decreasing biodiversity—are also pressing. Unfortunately, these challenges cannot be met by scientific data and technology alone. This forum will help leading and emerging journalists to find religion angles in environmental stories and environmental angles in religion stories. Each forum will include sixteen journalists, eight specializing in religion and eight in the environment, as well as three or four cutting-edge authors or thought leaders on religion and/or the environment.
